Where do we meet?
American Heritage Girls Troop MO2215 is chartered by Grace Bible Church of Columbia, Missouri. Most of our meetings are held at the church at 601 Blue Ridge Rd. Columbia, MO 65202. If you want to learn more about our charter organization, click here.
When do we meet?
Meetings are held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on the 2nd & 4th Tuesday's of each month from September- May. 3rd Thursdays are optional faith based bible studies for the Pioneers/Patriots (7th grade-HS). They also have fun fellowship gatherings at various locations. Typically we also have a monthly troop service project, and a monthly fun social or outdoors activity. We invite guests or interested parties to attend a troop meeting and to ask questions to see if this is a good fit for your family. IF you are interested in visiting please go to https://americanheritagegirls.org/find-a-troop/, click on our troop (MO2215- Grace Bible Church), and fill out the questionnaire.
Our AHG Leadership also meets on the first Tuesday of each at 6:30 pm. Anyone is welcome to join these meetings.
What do we do in a meeting?
After girls are signed in by a parent and receive their nametag/lanyard, at 6:30 we all gather in the church sanctuary for our opening flag ceremony where we post colors and recite the Pledge of Allegiance to the American Flag and the Christian Flag. After a short opening lead by one of our troop leaders we break out into the different units to work on age appropriate activities that can include badge work, guest speakers, art projects, service project preparations, interactive games, etc. The Troop then meets for a closing ceremony in the church sanctuary, after which parents can sign out their daughter.
Annual Registration Fees
The national American Heritage Girls Organization requires that all girls and associated leaders pay an annual registration fee of $40 each. The registration fee is paid directly to AHG. Additionally, we collect troop dues of $60 per child. These dues help to cover the operating cost of our local Troop for meeting supplies, awards and other various Troop expenses. AHG Inc. caps Troop dues to $105 for each family who have combined participation of three or more children in Trail Life and American Heritage Girls. If scouts join between January and July they will only be required to pay half of the troop dues for that year. As part of the registration process these dues can be paid to the Troop Venmo account or to the Troop Treasurer at a meeting by cash or check made out to Troop MO-2215.
Uniforms
We ask that all active scouts and leaders wear Class A uniforms to our monthly meetings. Uniforms and other AHG items may be purchased by going to the AHG Store website. First time scouts will want to get the start up kits that include all needed pieces of the uniform and a handbook. Pathfinder (Kindergarten) do not need the handbook for our troop, so they can just get the t-shirt and necklace. Tenderheart (1st-3rd) and older require polo shirts and navy or khaki pants/skirts/skorts/ or modest shorts. The polos and bottoms can be purchased outside of the AHG store.
Fundraisers
Each year our goal is to have a few fundraisers so that troop dues and out of pocket expenses for special events can be kept as low as possible. In the fall we sell Shakespeare's Pizzas and Growing Bean coffee/tea as our main fundraiser for the year. In December we also have a Cake Auction at our Christmas Party. Also, throughout the year we volunteer at local Ultramax races, which donate $25 per volunteer shift to a non-for profit. Our goal is to raise enough funds so that our Troop activities and special events are of little or no cost for our scouts.
What does MO-2215 mean?
Each AHG troop is identified by their state abbreviation and a number of their choosing. Our troop number, 2215, comes from the Bible verse of 2 Timothy 2:15 which says, "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth."
